Details of this significant investment came to light during a recent meeting between a company representative and Quang Ninh’s Party chief, Vu Dai Thang. This meeting coincided with the Lunar New Year celebrations, underscoring the plant’s timely launch and its community significance.

The facility is situated in the Amata City Ha Long (Song Khoai) Industrial Park in Quang Yen town, with an impressive investment of $154 million. Its focus will be on manufacturing essential safety products for automobiles and other vehicles. Once operational, it is expected to produce around 10 million units annually, with the majority destined for export markets.

As construction progresses, all phases— from construction to equipment installation and staff training—are on track, with completion anticipated by the end of February. As of February 3, 100% of Autoliv Vietnam’s workforce, alongside contractors, has returned to the site, emphasizing a commitment to timely project delivery.

Excitement surrounding the new plant is not limited to company insiders. The Embassy of Sweden in Hanoi highlighted the project on its Facebook page, pointing out that the facility will meet the rising demand for airbag cushions and fabric across Asia. Spanning 90,000 square meters, this investment is expected to create up to 2,000 jobs in Quang Ninh, further solidifying Vietnam’s growing role in global manufacturing.

Recently, Autoliv Vietnam has begun actively recruiting for a variety of positions, including cut workers, beam threaders, and warehouse team leaders, with opportunities available immediately following the Lunar New Year holiday. This recruitment drive reflects the company’s readiness to ramp up operations and integrate new talent into its workforce.

The journey towards establishing this new plant officially kicked off on July 10, 2023, with Investcorp serving as the principal contractor for the design and construction. This collaboration signals a robust investment in Vietnam’s manufacturing capabilities while reinforcing the importance of automotive safety. Autoliv is clearly set to play a vital role in enhancing road safety standards not just locally, but globally.
