    During the meeting, Uzbek Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Ilzat Kasimov reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to viewing Việt Nam as a priority partner within the region. He stressed the importance of coordinating efforts across ministries and sectors to better leverage the economic strengths of both nations. Uzbekistan aims to create welcoming conditions for Vietnamese enterprises, demonstrating a clear intent to foster mutual investment opportunities.

    Reviewing Current Cooperation

    Delegates took the opportunity to assess the current state of cooperation between the two countries, evaluating strengths, challenges, and prospects across key sectors. They identified vast potential for collaboration in areas such as agriculture, agro-processing, light industry, automobile manufacturing, transport, logistics, construction, tourism, and cultural exchange. Notably, the complementary nature of their economies positions both countries to build robust supply chains, from production through to exports.

    Both sides expressed a strong commitment to translating discussions into actionable projects. Agencies and enterprises from Việt Nam and Uzbekistan pledged to work closely together to realize these commitments, aiming to identify and implement concrete cooperation projects that will benefit both economies.     Recent Trade Achievements

    The economic cooperation is further illustrated by impressive trade statistics. According to the Vietnamese Department of Customs, bilateral trade reached an impressive $202 million in 2024, marking a 26.5% increase from the previous year. Việt Nam’s exports, valued at $128.61 million, saw a remarkable growth of 75%, while imports totaled $73.38 million, reflecting a decrease. These figures underline the increasing economic interdependence between the two nations.

    Key Trade Dynamics

    In the trade ecosystem, Uzbekistan stands as Việt Nam’s second-largest trading partner in Central Asia. Conversely, Việt Nam holds the title of Uzbekistan’s largest trading partner within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Vietnamese exports to Uzbekistan encompass a range of products, including phones, computers, machinery, and rubber. Conversely, Việt Nam imports textiles, fertilizers, and cotton from Uzbekistan, reflecting a diverse and balanced trade relationship.

    Investment Landscape

    Investment prospects between the two nations are promising, with Việt Nam engaging in five projects in Uzbekistan, amassing a total registered capital of approximately $4.43 million. This showcases a growing interest among Vietnamese investors in exploring the Uzbek market and fostering commercial ties.

    The eighth meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee serves as a foundational step in solidifying the relationship between Việt Nam and Uzbekistan.
