During a recent inspection of the construction site in southern Dong Nai Province, Prime Minister Chinh emphasized the crucial importance of the Long Thanh International Airport project. In talks with ministries, sectors, contractors, and local authorities, PM Chinh clarified the essential roles that each entity plays in the project’s success. He specifically directed contractors involved in the construction of the passenger terminal to adhere strictly to timelines and commitments. Recognizing international supply chain complexities, he urged contractors to send personnel abroad to expedite the delivery of imported equipment, ensuring that necessary materials arrive punctually.
Infrastructure and Service Development
A key aspect of the airport’s operation will hinge on the development of a robust aircraft maintenance infrastructure. PM Chinh assigned Vietnam Airlines with the responsibility for Plots 1 and 2, while Vietjet is tasked with the development of facilities at Plots 3 and 4. Tackling Material Shortages
As construction progresses, material shortages have become an important obstacle. To address this, PM Chinh appointed Deputy PM Tran Hong Ha to oversee efforts to secure alternative supply sources. Furthermore, he urged local authorities in Dong Nai Province to facilitate access to local quarries for essential materials like stone and sand, emphasizing the need for a seamless supply chain.
Transport Connectivity Enhancements
In tandem with the airport project, various major transport links are being developed to ensure smooth connectivity. Notable projects include the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway and the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh Expressway, among others. Each of these links plays a vital role in enhancing access to the new airport, creating a comprehensive transportation network that supports economic activities and improves regional connectivity.
Road Developments: Meeting Deadlines
According to the Ministry of Construction, the progress of the T1 and T2 roads, which connect directly with the airport, has been notably swift. T1 is expected to open to traffic by April 30, while T2 is on track for completion in July. Remarkably, the remaining roadworks are set to finish ahead of schedule, with a projected operational date of September 2.

While inspecting various construction facilities, PM Chinh praised the diligent efforts of workers at the sites. Acknowledging their hard work, he encouraged them to maintain momentum by continuing construction around the clock, even on weekends and public holidays, to ensure that all deadlines are met.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister urged consideration for long-term transport solutions, including a metro line that would link Long Thanh Airport with Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
