Vietnam is on the brink of a massive infrastructural transformation, as evidenced by the recent groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony for 250 key projects celebrated on August 19, 2025. Party Chief To Lam, alongside Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, marked this event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and its National Day. The ambitious project portfolio aims to propel the nation toward economic growth exceeding 8% in 2025 and into double-digit growth in the years to come.
Of the 250 projects, 161 have already commenced construction, while 89 are being inaugurated as vital economic drivers. This extensive initiative showcases Vietnam’s commitment to bolstering its infrastructure in alignment with its development goals.

Vietnam Exposition Center Inaugurated
Among these projects is the Vietnam Exposition Center (VEC) in Dong Anh, Hanoi, which has been completed in just ten months. Developed by the Vietnam Exhibition Fair Center JSC (VEFAC) with Vingroup holding an 85% stake, this state-of-the-art center covers over 900,000 square meters and incorporates a total investment of VND7 trillion ($275 million). Its indoor exhibition space of 304,000 square meters positions it among the world’s top ten largest exhibition complexes and makes it the largest in Southeast Asia.

A standout feature of the VEC is the Kim Quy Exhibition Hall, which is touted as the world’s largest circular exhibition structure, covering 104,863 square meters and featuring a dome roof supported by 24,000 tons of steel. The complex also includes four outdoor exhibition parks totaling over 200,000 square meters, making it a prime location for large-scale festivals and events.
New Expressways and High-Speed Railways
In tandem with the VEC inauguration, the Ministry of Construction announced the commencement of six expressway projects encompassing a total length of 364 kilometers. This includes a key project that will connect Ca Mau province to the southernmost point of the country, completing a crucial segment of the North-South axis. Additionally, construction has begun on resettlement projects related to the North-South high-speed railway, with near VND10 billion ($380,000) earmarked for investment.
Since the beginning of the year, a remarkable 455 kilometers of expressways have been completed, bringing the operational length of Vietnam’s expressways to nearly 2,476 kilometers. By the end of 2025, an estimated additional 700 kilometers is expected to be added, pushing the total projected length to approximately 3,000 kilometers, with ambitious plans to reach 5,000 kilometers by 2030.
Airport Expansion Projects
The aviation sector is also set to benefit from recent developments, including the groundbreaking of the Gia Binh airport project in Bac Ninh province, which has a total investment capital of VND195 trillion ($7.42 billion). The new airport aims to establish itself as the largest in northern Vietnam. Additionally, projects for Cat Bi Terminal T2 in Hai Phong and the expansion of Ca Mau Airport are underway.

When completed, Gia Binh will surpass Noi Bai Airport, setting a new benchmark in the region with the ability to handle up to 30 million passengers annually by 2030, with projections to reach 50 million by 2050.
The Ngoc Hoi Bridge Project
Further enhancing connectivity, construction has begun on the Ngoc Hoi Bridge, which will connect Hanoi to Hung Yen province. This project is expected to have a total investment of about VND12 trillion ($456 million) and will span approximately 7.5 kilometers, with plans for six lanes dedicated to motor vehicles. The new bridge is part of Hanoi’s broader infrastructure strategy aimed at building 19 road bridges across the Red River by 2045.
