Celebrating Vietnam’s Transportation Infrastructure Progress
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recently praised the collaborative efforts of project investors, management boards, consulting units, and construction contractors involved in Vietnam’s national key transport projects. This official dispatch underscores the significant strides being made in the country’s transportation infrastructure.
Expanding Expressways and Airports
Vietnam has made remarkable advancements, evidenced by the completion of 2,476 kilometers of expressways nationwide. This extensive network facilitates better connectivity and economic growth. The establishment of modern international airports—such as Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Phu Bai, and Dien Bien—has also contributed to a more robust transport framework. Key seaports, including Lach Huyen and Cai Mep–Thi Vai, have been operationalized, enhancing maritime trade capabilities.
Urban railway lines in major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City play a pivotal role in urban transportation, significantly influencing the overall socio-economic landscape. These developments serve not just transportation needs but also contribute to local economies and community well-being.
Acknowledging Unwavering Dedication
In his dispatch, the Prime Minister extended heartfelt congratulations to the dedicated project developers, management boards, consulting units, contractors, and the multitude of engineers and workers who have tirelessly worked on these projects. Even during the National Day holiday, thousands of workers have been on-site, operating in three rotating shifts to ensure timely progress on critical projects.
Key initiatives include the expansion of sections of the Eastern North–South Expressway and various expressway projects such as Huu Nghi–Chi Lang, Dong Dang–Tra Linh, and Chau Doc–Can Tho–Soc Trang. Additionally, large-scale urban transport developments like Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3 and the Nhon–Hanoi Station metro line are underway, alongside vital energy projects, particularly in the Southern region.
Overcoming Challenges for Steady Progress
Despite facing numerous challenges, project teams have demonstrated exceptional resilience, maintaining steady progress in construction timelines, quality, safety, and investment efficiency. Achievements thus far include the completion of over 3,000 kilometers of expressways and more than 1,700 kilometers of coastal roads. Significant advancements are also being made on the Long Thanh International Airport project, which is projected to have a lasting impact on the region’s infrastructure.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these accomplishments not only bolster infrastructure development but also spur socio-economic growth, improve living standards, and foster a spirit of emulation among the workforce, especially as the country approaches the 80th anniversary of National Day.
Focused Momentum for Upcoming Milestones
As key infrastructure projects enter a critical phase, efforts are ramping up to ensure timely execution and completion. The Prime Minister has called on ministries, local authorities, project investors, management boards, and contractors to foster a vigorous work ethic, embodying a spirit of being “faster, even faster,” and “bolder, even bolder.”
To enhance the momentum, the Ministry of Construction is tasked with directing project investors to expedite investment preparations and activate round-the-clock construction operations. Special focus is being placed on essential projects like the North–South Expressway, Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway, and Long Thanh International Airport to meet deadlines for groundbreaking or inauguration ceremonies set for December 19.
Future Vision
The emphasis on collaboration and relentless effort echoes the government’s commitment to transforming Vietnam’s transportation landscape. With an unwavering focus on quality and efficiency, the nation is poised to achieve significant milestones that will not only enhance transportation systems but also resonate throughout the economy and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
By fostering a culture of diligence and innovation, Vietnam is gearing up to build a transportation infrastructure that aligns with its aspirations for the future.
