Ho Chi Minh City is embarking on an ambitious plan to attract $12.4 billion in private investment capital dedicated to 55 projects in the Hoc Mon and Cu Chi districts. This initiative predominantly focuses on transport infrastructure development, signaling an exciting era of urban growth and connectivity.

Out of the total anticipated investment, nearly $12.3 billion is committed to 18 critical infrastructure projects. Among these, the highly anticipated HCMC – Moc Bai expressway, ring roads 3 and 4, as well as elevated road No.5 stand out. The metro line No.3, which will link the Tay Ninh bus station with the Northwest Cu Chi urban area, is particularly noteworthy, as is the expansion of Highway 15.

In addition to infrastructure, the plan allocates $32.8 million for 12 urban projects and $80.6 million for two trade-service projects. The remainder of the budget is designated for various sectors, including three industrial projects, 16 agricultural projects, and four education-culture-sports initiatives.

At an investment promotion conference led by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, HCMC authorities made a compelling case for investment in these districts. Nguyen Thanh Nha, the Director of the city’s Department of Planning and Architecture, extolled the advantages of Hoc Mon and Cu Chi. He emphasized their flat terrain, rich natural ecosystems, and stunning landscapes as ideal for investment opportunities.

The districts’ strategic proximity to the Moc Bai international border gate, the Dau Tieng lake, and several thriving urban areas such as Tan An, Thu Dau Mot, and Lai Thieu enhances their appeal. Remarkably, these districts offer a potential connection to Ho Chi Minh City’s center in just 30 to 35 minutes via water transport, which could revolutionize commuting patterns.

Geographically, Hoc Mon and Cu Chi are located along the north-south urban development axis, stretching from Truong Chinh street to Cach Mang Thang Tam street, and adjacent to the serene banks of the Saigon River. They are also conveniently situated near metro line No. 2, which connects the An Suong bus station to the Northwest urban area, in addition to the national railway line extending from Cu Chi to Tay Ninh province.

Covering an area of 544 square kilometers, more than 26% of Ho Chi Minh City’s natural area, the Hoc Mon and Cu Chi districts serve as vital gateways to Duc Hoa district in Long An province, Trang Bang town in Tay Ninh province, and Thu Dau Mot town in Binh Duong province.

Looking forward, the north-northwest region is being explored as a key growth axis, following the city’s adjusted development plan set for 2040, with aspirations extending to 2060. The vision includes developing the Northwest urban area into a smart, ecological habitat for future residents.
