Aqua Vietnam has announced an extension of its manufacturing facilities in Dong Nai province, southern Vietnam, effective until 2045. This move comes with a significant commitment of approximately $75 million in additional investment, signaling the company’s ambitious growth strategy and robust faith in the local market.
The provincial authorities in Dong Nai have officially approved the extension of investment licenses for Aqua Vietnam’s factories, which are situated in the Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park. This approval enables the company to broaden its operational capacity, thus enhancing its ability to cater to the growing domestic demand while simultaneously boosting export capabilities.
As part of its long-term development strategy, Aqua Vietnam aims to significantly increase its production capacity. Plans are underway to elevate the combined output of its three factories to nearly 1.6 million units per year, which includes 800,000 washing machines and 800,000 refrigerators. This strategic step is targeted not only at domestic consumption but also at expanding its market reach into Asia and Europe.

The Aqua brand, originally founded in Japan, entered the Vietnamese market back in 1996 under the name Sanyo Ha Asean. In 2011, the brand underwent a major transformation as it was acquired by China’s Haier Group. This acquisition included not just the brand but also an entire established framework comprising an R&D center, manufacturing plants, a broad sales network, and a committed workforce of 7,000 employees, alongside valuable intellectual property.
After establishing its footing in the Vietnamese market, Haier rebranded Sanyo as Aqua in Vietnam in 2014, making significant headway in the competitive appliance sector. The Aqua Vietnam complex at Bien Hoa 2 spans an impressive 77,466 square meters, producing a diverse range of products such as refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, freezers, televisions, and various other household appliances.
Establishing a firm presence across the country, Aqua Vietnam operates three sales offices, boasts a network of around 6,000 retail outlets, and runs 120 service stations nationwide. The workforce is considerable, featuring 1,600 factory employees, 230 commercial staff, and an additional 500 in sales roles.
As of the end of December 2025, Aqua Vietnam had secured the largest market share in the washing machine and refrigerator sectors within Vietnam, underscoring its competitive edge and operational efficiency. The company’s outlook is focused on prioritizing manufacturing expansion, improving supply chain operations, and localizing production processes rather than relying heavily on marketing for growth.
Aqua Vietnam aims to raise localization rates considerably—from just over 50% currently to an ambitious 75% in the medium term, with some product lines already nearing a localization rate of 60%. This shift is not just about numbers; it’s about creating a more self-sufficient and sustainable manufacturing process.
Over the next five years, the company has set a target to double its production output to approximately 2 million units annually. Moreover, Aqua Vietnam intends to explore new export opportunities in additional markets, including the Americas and Africa, building on its successful presence in Asia and Europe.
CEO Fan Guofeng expressed that the decision to extend the investment horizon until 2045 represents Aqua Vietnam’s long-term commitment to the region. This strategy is centered on understanding user needs, continuous innovation, and ensuring the durability and quality of both its products and its lasting presence in the market.
Haier Group currently owns seven global premium brands, including Haier, Casarte, GE Appliances, Fisher & Paykel, Aqua, and Candy. It is noted for being the world’s first brand to provide comprehensive smart living solutions.
